Dr Amjad Ali
Assistant Professor, Institute of Integrative Biosciences
Dr Amjad Ali received his Masters in Biochemistry from the Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar. He completed his PhD in the field of cancer biology from the Lab of Basic Cancer Research at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, ECNU in Shanghai. During his PhD, focused on solid tumor formation mechanisms mainly in breast, liver, lung and colon cancers. He published several high impact papers in the field of cancer research. After his doctorate, he was selected by Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) as a post-doctoral fellow, where he moved to the Lab of Cancer Stem Cells in Shanghai where he worked on bone marrow transplantation, bone marrow niche and tumor microenvironment.
He as later selected by Brussels Cancer Research Foundation as a Post-doctoral Fellow in 2014 and did his research at the GIGA-Cancer Research Center, Central-Hospital-University, Brussels with a primary focus on molecular mechanisms of cancer progression.
Dr Amjad Ali has 7 years experience in the field of cancer research and currently focuses on TGF-beta/SMAD signaling and p53 mutations during metastatic breast cancer progression to understand how TGF-beta signaling promote cancer in the later stage. He is now an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Integrative Biosciences
