Dr Abid Ali Khan
Assistant Professor, Institute of Integrative Biosciences
Dr Abid has earned his MPhil and PhD from the Centre of Biotechnology and Microbiology, University of Peshawar, Pakistan as a fully funded scholar of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. He has also been a Visiting Researcher at the School of Chemistry, University of Bristol UK.
Dr Abid’s work focuses on fungal metabolites and their biosynthetic pathways using isotopic labeling of precursors. He uses regularly used LCMS and HPLC for the confirmation of metabolites, antibiotic testing using spectrophotometer and structure elucidation of metabolites using 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy. He is interested in using fungi as micro-chemical industries for the derivatization of biologically active compounds. Dr Abid also has an interest in the synthesis and characterization of inorganic materials nanostructures, their characterization and biological applications and next generation sequencing technology.
